lyrics
An arid landscape greets my bare, wandering feet
Sandals in disrepair left miles behind
My cowl shields my lungs from the dust
(A simple excuse to hide my shameful face)
Shelter ahead, a temple of ash
Atop a sunlit dais a ribbon falls
Lime green and smelling of you
How many feet have these tiles touched?
Wind hitting cloth just so
Fabric wraps an unseen throat
Immobile, I stare with mouth agape
An apparition, unearthed, thus speaks:
“This search for blue must end with the revealing of thyself
Shield our eyes no longer from your shameless form!”
I wander confused and alone
[Aimless drifting!]
Searching for a new mask to wear
[Conscious shifting!]
I’m a list of flaws in human dress
[Navel gazing!]
A walking book of compromises
What path do I follow?
I feel I’ve been here many times before
Windswept footsteps lead me to your ghost
My eyes glaze over as a new scene arises:
The last bite of honey a visitor’s folly
An exit delayed - a rabbit dismayed
And lo, to our confined ursid’s despair
The lagomorph sparks conversation with one’s unexpected end!
Thou that hath a head of wax must not walk in the sun
For what form hides behind melting eyes?
Even monstrous vermin lie limp without a shell
Lurking under the upholstery with no means to tell us
“I’m me but not me I’m just different you see
Don’t be fearful of my looks
My mind intact i have but one ask
Play your violin song to usher me along
I’ll be gone before you know it
Blessed autonomy!”
